Elizabeth Coalition to House the Homeless
Hospitality House Program
The Hospitality House Program is temporary housing for working homeless families. The Coalition has three houses and can shelter a total of seven families at any given time. The Joan Driscoll-Kelly House is our newest house and can shelter 3 families. The house was newly constructed and opened on November 1, 2006. Three families live there presently. Services provided, in addition to the housing, are intensive case management; program activities such as classes in parenting, budgeting, nutrition, stress management and various health related topics. Participants are required to meet with the case manager weekly to work on their individual goals, save ½ of their income and participate in all program activities.
All of the Coalitions houses are sponsored by various community organizations. The Rotary District #7510 will sponsor the Joan Driscoll-Kelly House. This creates a positive blend of local business providing for the workers in the community. More information regarding the hospitality house program and the work of the Elizabeth Coalition to House the Homeless can found on the Coalition website: www.theelizabethcoalition.org.
